The Tanglang La is a high mountain covered road which is located on the Leh-Manali highway and is about a few kilometres away from Leh. It is situated at a height of 5,358 metres, and is the second-highest mountain pass after Khardung-La Pass. It is also known as the 12th highest motorable pass. The past summit of Tanglang La is breathtaking and is admired by a number of prayer flags.

Start from Manali > Rohtang > Keylong > Jispa > Darcha > Zingzing Bar > Sarchu > Tanglang La > Upshi Leh. 

Srinagar Leh Highway

Route: 

Start from Srinagar > Sonamarg > Drass > Kargil > Leh

One must be able to manage the tiredness and challenges of a road trip to accommodate a happy and safe trip. 

One must not be in a hurry to reach the final destination while driving through rough patches. The path is such that you will be travelling to a high altitude region which means you might get hit by Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) which is common. Ascend gradually, and take a day’s rest in Leh that will help you feel better.

Also, it is advisable to take Diamox 24 hours before entering the high altitude region. As stated, you must drink at least 3 to 4 litres of water to stay hydrated and charged. You must not rush on your Ladakh trip by bike without thought. Take regular breaks, overnight halts, and reserve days in between. Do not go under planned for the trip. Do not aim to cover more than 250 to 300 km in one go for safety. It is also advisable not to consume alcohol and smoke as it can affect your breathing ability and may make you suffer from Acute Mountain Sickness while descending.
